2022 Innovation Challenge

DC NEXT! is pleased and proud to introduce a funding opportunity designed to spur improved systems of care and resources for DC’s expectant and parenting teens to further our goal of empowering young parents to make healthy decisions.

About the Challenge

Eligibility

  • Any organization with the ability to reach our targeted population, D.C. Expectant and Parenting Youth, are encouraged to apply.

  • Non-profit and For-Profit organizationsa re elgibile

  • Organizations can submit multiple Innovations for consideration!

Areas of Interest

  • Criticism of being a Teen mom

  • Child Care

  • Juggling School, Children, and Schedules

  • Not having social support needed persoanlly and for their children

  • Lack of communication with domestic partners

  • Not having fathers involved with parenting

  • Huge expenses related to having a child

Application Requirements

  • Applications must be received by 5:00pm (EST) on Tuesday June 14th, 2022

  • Organizations must complete the full application

  • Applications must have proposed budgets of $35,000 or less

  • Proposed budgets reflect scope and requirements of proposed Innovation

  • Organiation must identify one primary contact

Selection Process and Criteria

Selection Criteria:

  1. Youth Experience and Access to our target population

    • Prior experience working with and serving DC youth

    • Prior experience and/or expertise working with expectant and parenting teens​

  2. Innovation, Alignment, & Evidence

    • Degree of Innovation​

    • Alignment with DCNEXT's Mission and Vision

    • Evidence of relevance or need for Expectant & Parenting Teens in Washington, DC

    • Innovation's Theory of Change is consistent with proposed project's goals

Selection Process:

​

A Selection Review Committee will be conducting the process, composed of DC NEXT's Leadership members and Context Team Members (D.C. Expectant & Parenting Teens).

​

Organizations may be contacted during the selection rfeview process if needed, and awardees will be notified by the week of June 27th, 2022.

​
